Requirements for Smart Adaptive Street Light
ESP32 Development Board
LDR Sensor Module (Light detection)
IR Motion Sensor (Movement detection)
LED (Street light simulation)
220Ω Resistor
I2C LCD Display (16x2)
Breadboard
Jumper Wires
USB Cable / Power Supply
In this experiment, students will design and build an automated Smart Street Lighting System using an ESP32 microcontroller. The system intelligently adjusts the brightness of street lights based on ambient light conditions and motion detection, similar to technologies used in modern Smart Cities.
After completing this experiment, students will be able to:
Understand how sensor data is used in real-time decision making.
Interface LDR and IR sensors with ESP32.
Control LED brightness using PWM signals.
Display sensor status and system mode on an I2C LCD display.
Build a prototype of a Smart City adaptive street lighting system.
Understand how embedded systems help in energy-efficient urban infrastructure
